Colors at Grimes Point, NV

7 or so miles east of Fallon on highway 50, is Grimes Point, a notable location for seeing Pit and Groove style petroglyphs, that are over 6000 years old (!)
All around here , the colors were surreal and serene... even the mossy (?) growth on the boulders

Riddle...

Q. What do you get when you put 1 mom, 1 stylin' twenty year old, and 1 mighty opinionated 17 year old in a teeny Honda Element for 4 days and 1050 miles?
explain: there's bottle to the right of the sign...that's the target
(actually, I should just say that he's aiming for the moon)

low tech, but serious skills

Loading... or hiding from the wind

500 paces...wait ...lets do more... (just kidding)...and yes in hind sight..this is perhaps a little close to where the nuclear tests  occurred. (!)

Demonstrating the newest in 'Dont-Mess-with-Me' gear

nothing like shooting at a wire fence for a little skill building
A. A whole bunch of togetherness, a bushel of exploring ...and some serious desert-style BB shooting (with a little catapult thrown in)

Tonopah

Tonopah...
Once called the Queen of the Silver Camps...what a sad looking queen
Now they rely on the Tonopah Test Range, and nearby nuclear test sites (not sure how they benefit from that) and also the development of the F-117 Nighthawk (nope ...we didn't get to see it)
Met a girl who ran the front desk at the local Best Western, she was so aching to get out of town...wants to move to Reno or Oregon (hmmmm)

A little piece of someone's paradise...lost

Heading east on alternate route 722 towards Austin...

Up around the corner...
A wee little house...

...
wants to return in the spring
